Food Stuff: Mum's Olive Dipper (Anne Garber review)

star rating

Review by Anne Garber

Ooo! Now that's our kind of culinary accessory. Something that's practical, yet pretty enough to give as a gift.

Our favourite North Vancouver giftware innovator has introduced a new Olive Dipper to its product line. The metal utensil is coiled to act as a small sieve for easily removing olives from jars.

"The Olive Dipper is a cousin to our best-selling Olive Spoon which we first introduced in 2003," says Donna Sacuta, founder of Mum's Creations.

"The dipper includes our signature design of a coiled handle topped with a glass bead."

The beaded finish comes in a wide assortment of shades and colours.

Both the Olive Spoon and the Olive Dipper were designed in Canada by Sacuta, whose business is entering its tenth year as a wholesaler.

As you can imagine, running a product-review website means I receive a great many items of practical and whimsical nature. Some are just nice to look at, but with my new eagerness to downsize, some of those get added to the "Gift Cupboard" to become future gifts for friends and family.

In this case -- and because I'm a big fan of olives in general -- I cannot bear to part with it. Selfishly, this is one item I just have to keep for myself. Five stars!
