Romy Prasad

Restaurant: Savory Coast Cucina Mediterranea
Place of Birth: Guyana, South America

Chef Romesh (Romy) Prasad's resume is studded with Michelin stars from France, Italy and Spain -- a world away from Guyana, where he remembers his mother grinding spices by hand and preparing family meals on a wood-fired stove. It isn't just coincidence that he now creates dishes in Cin Cin's signature wood-fired oven. While working his way through university, Romy attended Ontario's Stratford Chef school and later enrolled in the Ritz Escoffier Cooking School in Paris. Romy's style of cooking reflects his classic European training blended with the relaxed and refreshing West Coast flavours and style. He was the much-lauded chef at CinCin for many years, and moved (almost across the street) to this -- his own restaurant -- in April, 2005.

Romy Prasad appears -- as in past years -- on the 2005 adidas Vancouver International Marathon chef's stage, demonstrating easy (and healthy) meals.
